Bulova Watch company Bulova, the biggest maker of watches in the United States, during its decades long success story, was really the product to two men: Arde Bulova, son of founder Joseph Bulova and John Ballard, a long time employee who rose from office boy to company President. Bulova's success was always tied to its innovative and aggressive marketing and advertising programs. The company manufactured watches by the millions, casing movements made in its own Swiss plant. It was a mass maker into the 1960's culminating with its technological wonder, the Accutron. That innovation found its way into nearly five million watches before quartz ended this firms dominance. Today, Bulova is a totally imported product though the heart of the watch comes from Japanese technology rather than Switzerland's.
